Get Ready for your Appointment

Inspiration:

Research different styles and shapes of dresses and their fit beforehand to have an idea of what you would like to try on. Create a pre-shopping research board of various elements you would like your dream dress to have; that way, the consultant has a better idea of what styles you do and don't want, which will make the process much easier for you. Now you've done your research and walk into your appointment and see a style you think you might like, but it's different from what you originally wanted? Try it on! Sometimes the unexpected will surprise you, and your inspiration board is just a starting point!

Establish a budget:

Make sure you have a set budget before walking into your appointment. Be sure to include in your budget the cost of alterations, accessories, and your veil. Setting a budget for yourself is extremely important, especially if you have an overall wedding budget.

Food:

Be sure to eat something light before your appointment, but nothing too greasy or anything you know will make you feel bloated. No one likes feeling bloated, especially when trying on wedding dresses.

Who to bring:

Try not to bring too many people to your appointment to get overwhelmed with too many opinions. We know you want to share this beautiful moment with all your loved ones, but we recommend bringing two to three of your closest friends or family members with you to have the support you need. The fun idea is to take lots of pictures at your appointment and plan a dinner or special outing for those you could not bring to your consultation and share all the photos and stories with them. It also makes for a lovely way to celebrate and share the news if you happened to have said "Yes" to a dress!

What to wear/bring:

Wear clothes that are easy to change in and out of, like a t-shirt, leggings, or a summer dress. Be sure to wear nude undergarments and bring a strapless bra if you feel like you need it. Most dresses come with cups sewn in, so in most cases, a bra won't be necessary. It's a good idea to bring anything that you would like to wear for your wedding day, including any shape-wear, lingerie, accessories or even shoes! When it comes to hairstyle and makeup, you don't want to look like you just rolled out of bed, but you also don't want to overdo it. When wedding dress shopping, it's best to wear your hair in a style that will best resemble your ideal wedding hairstyle and little to no makeup since you'll be trying on beautiful but also pearly white pieces that you wouldn't want to stain. Coming prepared with all these things can make all the difference when wedding dress shopping!
